NEW: Showcase BC: Resources

Some great online resources for those wishes to livestream & promote their events!

Showcase BC is an initiative supported by the Province of British Columbia to share made-in-B.C. streaming creative content that we can all enjoy as we stay home, stay safe and do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19. This resource is delivered by Creative BC as is the Showcase BC program.

RESOURCES:

Artists for Spotify provides a full guide for maximizing your Spotify audience through telling your story, promoting your music and measuring your reach.

Bandcamp Artist Guide provides recommendations for how to achieve financial success on Bandcamp through community, promotion and gaining a following.

Patreon powers membership businesses for creators by giving them the tools they need to acquire, manage, and energize their paying patrons. With a subscription-style payment model, fans pay their favourite creators a monthly amount of their choice in exchange for exclusive access, extra content, or a closer look into their creative journey.

PayPal allows you to collect one-time payments and donations from fans and communities without the need for fan-based subscription models.

STREAMING:

Zoom is the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars.

Twitch is a global community of millions who come together each day to create their own entertainment: unique, live, unpredictable, never-to-be-repeated experiences created by the magical interactions of the many. With chat built into every stream, you don’t just watch on Twitch, you’re a part of the show.

Side Door Access is a B.C.-based platform that matches artists with hosts, builds direct connections, and simplifies the show-booking process with easy and transparent digital tools.

Floatplane is a B.C.-based video platform that allows creators to diversify their revenue sources and connect with their audience.

Facebook Live allows you to broadcast a conversation, performance, Q&A or virtual event. You can go live on a Page, in a group or an event, and your live videos will also appear in people’s News Feed. You can introduce guests, moderate comments and raise money.

YouTube Live allows you to stream and reach a large audience of subscribers and audiences in real time for free with the ability to publish your video on your channel for all to enjoy after the Live.

Instagram Live is a feature on Instagram Stories that allows users to stream video to followers and engage with them in real time. When users broadcast live video streams on their accounts, a ring highlights their profile picture in Instagram Stories to alert followers that they can view the live stream. Streaming is free.
